Four architectural offices of different experience and size open their doors to the public. Architects share their current projects and talk about their work in Helsinki and the metropolitan area.

Helin & Co Architects will present their current major project, the Kalasatama centre. JKMM Architects explain the story of the Amos Rex art museum being born in the city centre. The young office Aarti Ollila Ristola Architects sheds light on planning a new school building in the Jätkäsaari harbour zone. The tour ends up at the office of Huttunen-Lipasti-Pakkanen, the group behind the Allas Sea Pool by the Market Square, for instance. Participants are suggested to continue the evening on their own at the Allas Sea Pool, where the Helsinki chapter of the national architectural association SAFA hosts an open discussion at 6pm.

The tour ends around 5.45pm and can accommodate the first 25 to register at: https://www.webropolsurveys.com/S/4952104F57BC8DF5.par

Architecture Building Design Master Course exhibition presents projects, which are based on a real initiative and need for spaces for a media education centre as part of Aalto University.

The University has suggested a site in the centre of Otaniemi, near the new building of the School of Arts, Design and Architecture. The University needed alternative studies to see how it could function and how it would fit to the surroundings.

The legendary cinema Kino Tapiola, designed by Aarne Ervi in 1955, offers a special chance to explore the movie theatre through free film screenings.

There are two screenings: The Fountainhead (USA, 1949) at 3.15pm and Goodbye First Love (France, 2011) at 6pm.

The films are either English language or with English subtitles, and both share a connection to the world of architecture.

The event is part of the 2017 Architect Days and the 125th anniversary celebrations of the Finnish Association of Architects SAFA. The event is organised by the Helsinki-Uusimaa chapter (Hesa-SAFA) of the Association.

Sponsored by Ruukki Construction.

Lisäohjeita Press the buzzer to access the space. There are a few steps by the elevators with a ramp. You can reach the M.A.D. offices on the sixth floor by elevator.
Virtual reality is used a lot in entertainment, but it is also used as a design aid.

Welcome to the M.A.D. office where you can try out spatial planning on SketchUp or ArchiCAD. These professional design programmes are suitable for many purposes, and basic sketching can be done with just a few pointers. We have booked our classroom for testing out these tools, and offer help in planning your own room or a play house, for instance.

Visitors can also test out the Oculus Rift virtual goggles. How does virtual reality feel like? Expect platform games or a trip to Paris through the eyes of an eagle. Or perhaps a tour through central Helsinki in computer game style!

You can also examine 3D printers in action. Many have become fixated by the sight of them…

Micro Aided Design imports ArchiCAD architectural drawing software to Finland. We also represent other designer tools such as SketchUp and Cinema 4D.
